Morphological features：

Body length 10-13 mm, pronotum pink ; light organs almost entirely occupying ventrites 6 & 7 in male. Female resembles male, but light organ only covers ventrite 6. In larva, each tergite bears 4 sharp projections from the posterior margin.

 

Distribution：

Widely distributed along natural streams at all elevations.

 

Adult flight period：

April to October

 

Other information：

Male seldom flies, and stays on plants growing along stream channels. Display simple pulsation flash when stimulated by light signal. Pulsation frequency 7.8Hz. Active all night. Larva predates on other insects along stream channels.

 

形态特征：

体长10-13毫米，前胸背板桃红色；雄萤发光器位于整个第6腹板和第7腹板。雌萤与雄萤外表近似，发光器位于整个第6腹板。幼虫幼虫背板后缘有四枚刺突，发光器位于第八腹节两侧。

 

分布地点：

广泛分布于不同海拔高度的天然河溪。

 

成虫活跃月份：

4-10月

 

其他资料：

雄萤多停留在溪边植物上，甚少飞行，受光线刺激，会发出简单脉冲闪光，频率为7.8 Hz。全晚活跃。幼虫在溪边猎食各种昆虫。
